Дельфины – умнейшие, удивительные существа, покорившие сердца миллионов людей во всем мире. Они поражают своим интеллектом и культурой. Почти каждый человек мечтает увидеть дельфинов, и именно это желание во многих случаях приносит огромные страдания самим дельфинам. 

Для многих людей единственной возможностью, по их мнению, увидеть дельфинов является поход в дельфинарий. С первого взгляда дельфинарии кажутся райским местом с весёлой музыкой и довольными, вечно улыбающимися дельфинами. Но улыбки дельфинов это страшная иллюзия. И чтобы осознать это, нужно просто задать себе один вопрос: «Как дельфины попадают в дельфинарий?»

«27 января 2016 года в аэропорт Внуково из Японии грузовым самолетом ИЛ-76 для размещения в Центре океанографии и морской биологии «Москвариуме», расположенном на территории ВДНХ, поступили 14 особей дельфинов и 2 гринды (семейства дельфиновых).» - сообщается на официальном сайте Управления Федеральной службы по ветеринарному и фитосанитарному надзору по городу Москва, Московской и Тульской области (http://www.rsn-msk.ru/news/n10131/ )

Все эти дельфины поступили из городка Тайцзи, о котором узнал весь мир после выхода документального фильма «Бухта» в 2009 году, в котором рассказывается о ежегодной охоте на дельфинов. Многие слышали о том, что в Японии убивают дельфинов, но не многие знают, что это делают те же самые люди, которые продают дельфинов в дельфинарии по всему миру. Не многие догадываются, что именно благодаря доходам, полученным от продажи дельфинов в дельфинарии, японские рыбаки имеют возможность продолжать ежегодную кровавую бойню.

22 апреля 2015 года Всемирная Ассоциация Зоопарков и Аквариумов (WAZA) приняла решение приостановить членство Японской Ассоциации Зоопарков и Аквариумов(JAZA) в виду того, что сторонам не удалось достичь согласия в проблеме, касающейся отлова дельфинов для дельфинариев при жестокой загонной охоте в бухте Тайцзи. В своем заявление WAZA указали, что членство во Всемирной Ассоциации Зоопарков и Аквариумов обязывает соблюдать этический код организации, который запрещает любое участие в жестоких методах отлова животных из дикой среды. 20 Мая 2015 года Японская Ассоциация Зоопарков и Аквариумов(JAZA) заявила, что лишит членства дельфинарии, которые будут продолжать приобретать дельфинов из Тайцзи. Решение было принято после голосования, по результатам которого, 99 из 142 голосовавших представителей японских дельфинариев изъявили желание сохранить членство во Всемирной Ассоциация Зоопарков и Аквариумов(WAZA), отказавшись от покупки дельфинов из Тайцзи.

Эти заявления Всемирной (WAZA) и Японской(JAZA) ассоциаций  фактически означают публичное признание того, что приобретение дельфинов из бухты Тайцзи напрямую относится к соучастию в жестокой загонной охоте. Методы отлова японских рыбаков являются крайне жестокими. Многие дельфины – престарелые, больные и младенцы, не переживают стресса во время загона и умирают.

Ни один дельфинарий в России не является членом Всемирной Ассоциации Зоопарков и Аквариумов (WAZA), поэтому им ничего не мешает продолжать закупать дельфинов из кровавой бухты Тайцзи, и тем самым субсидировать продолжение бойни.

Мировая общественность уже многие годы борется за прекращение убийства и отлова дельфинов в Японии. Ключевым моментом для предотвращения ежегодной бойни дельфинов является запрет на их покупку из Японии. Именно прибыль от продажи дельфинов в дельфинарии – главная финансовая составляющая охоты. Цена на одного обученного дельфина может достигать 150 000 долларов, в то время как мертвый стоит около 500 долларов.
Россия является одной из стран, которые финансово способствуют ежегодному убийству дельфинов. В одном ряду с Россией стоят такие страны, как Китай, Украина, Таиланд, Египет, Турция, Арабские Эмираты и Мексика. Все эти страны закупают дельфинов из Японии и все они являются соучастниками в ужасном кровавом бизнесе.

Неужели дельфины должны платить смертельной ценой за развлечение людей? Неужели наше общество готово быть соучастником жестоких убийств всеми нами любимых дельфинов?

Мы требуем ввести полный запрет на импорт дельфинов из Японии в Россию. Наша страна не должна быть причастна к финансированию жестокой массовой бойни тихоокеанских дельфинов.

Stop the Import of Dolphins from Japan to Russia

Dolphins are the most intelligent and amazing creatures. Dolphins have won the hearts of millions of people globally. They astound us with their intelligence and capabilities.  Almost everyone wants to see dolphins, and it is this desire in many cases that brings tremendous suffering to the dolphins themselves. 

For many people the only opportunity, in their opinion, to see dolphins is a trip to a dolphin show. At first glance, dolphinariums looks like paradise, with cheerful music and happy, always smiling dolphins. But it is this smile that is a terrible illusion. To see through the smoke and mirrors, you just need to ask yourself one question: "How do dolphins get to these facilities?"

 “On January 27 2016 a cargo aircraft ‘IL-76’ arrived into Moscow Airport Vnukovo from Japan carrying 14 dolphins and 2 pilot whales for placement in the Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology "Moskvarium", located on the territory of the Exhibition Center - Office of the Federal service for veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the city of Moscow.” The Moscow and Tula region reported on the official website (http://www.rsn-msk.ru/news/n10131/ )

These 16 dolphins came from the infamous Taiji cove, which came into the spotlight after the 2009 release of “The Cove” documentary. Many people have heard about killing of dolphins in Japan but not many of them are aware that these same people are capturing and selling dolphins to captive facilities all over the world. Not many people realize that the profit of the sale of live dolphins to dolphin shows literally drives the bloody annual slaughter. 

On April 22, 2015 The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) Council voted unanimously to suspend the membership of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums (JAZA). The decision came after WAZA and JAZA could not reach an agreement on issues involving JAZA member zoos and aquariums taking dolphins from the horrific Japanese drive fishery. 

In the statement WAZA noted that membership obligates all members to observe the WAZA Code of Ethics, which requires all members to adhere to policies that prohibit participating in cruel and non-selective methods of taking animals from the wild. On May 20 2015 JAZA announced that it would ban its members from buying dolphins caught from Taiji waters. JAZA reached the decision by the results of the vote among all members. Of the 142 valid votes, 99 voted in favor of staying in the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums by stopping the purchase of dolphins from Taiji.(http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2015/05/20/national/national-zoo-body-bans-using-taiji-dolphins/ )

These decisions by WAZA and JAZA actually mean public recognition of the fact that the purchase of dolphins from Taiji cove implies direct involvement in a brutal drive hunt. Many elderly, sick and juvenile dolphins die during the drive unable to endure all the stress caused. 

None of dolphinariums in Russia are members of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), thus they are free to continue buying dolphins from Taiji’s bloody cove and thereby subsidize the annual hunt.

Caring and compassionate people from all around the world and all walks of life have been fighting to cease the killing and capture of dolphins in Japan for many years. The key in the prevention of the annual slaughter of dolphins is to prohibit their distribution from Japan. The profit from the sale of dolphins to dolphin shows is a major financial component of the hunt.

The price of a trained dolphin could reach up to $150,000 dollars, while that of a dead dolphin is worth only $500. Russia is one of the countries that contribute financially to the annual killing of dolphins. Along with Russia are countries such as China, Ukraine, Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Mexico. All these countries are buying dolphins from Japan, and they are all playing a major part in this terrible bloody business.

Should dolphins have to pay such a deadly price for the entertainment of people? Is our society happy to be a part of the brutal murder of all our precious dolphins?

We demand to ban the import of dolphins from Japan to Russia completely. Our country should not be involved in the financing of a brutal massacre of dolphins.
